SPORTSBOAT CLASS RULES 2010

1. Objective

It is intended that the ISRA Sportsboat Class consists of  modern sportboats rated under the IMS / ORC Club and that it foster competition at a high level of racing.

2. Administration

a. Class Authority

The authority for the Class shall be the ISRA Managing board with the Chairman, two Vice Chairman and the Chief Measurer, with guidance from various national ISRA owners associations through their representation in the ISRA Class Committee.

b. Language of the Rules

The official language of the Class Rules shall be English

c. Rule Interpretation

The ISRA Chief Measurer shall be responsible for the interpretation of the ISRA Sportsboat Class Rules and his decision shall be final until ratified or overruled by the Managing board, or ISRA Class Committee.

3. The Sportsboats

a. ISRA Sportsboat Class yachts should be modern Sportboats.

b. All Sportsboats must be listed in the valid ISRA Sportsboat List. Only listed sportsboats qualify as sportboat permitted to race in class.

c. ISRA Sportsboat List:

d. All Sportsboats that are not listed above can get an extra permit to race in class by the Managing board. A copy of the valid ORC certificate and some pictures of the yacht must be send together with a propsal to be listed in the  valid ISRA Sportsboat List. All required documents must be send 30 days before the first race to Races(AT)ISRA-sail.com .

4. Specifications

a. LOA shall not be less than 5.50 m and not larger than 9.00 m.

b. A GPH of maximum 700 is required.

c. Hiking straps are permitted, but there must be registered in the valid ORC certification.

d. Lifeline is optional and can be used for hiking.

e. Petrol engines are only required, if there are registered in the valid ORC certification.

f. One Offs are permitted

5. Crew Eligibility

50% of the crew members, rounded up if the total is not a whole number, must obtain a duly issued certification stating that they qualify as Group 1 (non professional) under the current ISAF Sailors’ Classification Code.

6. Measurement

A valid IMS, IMS One-Design or ORC Club Certificate is required.

For non-series-produced yachts, the certificates must be based on full IMS measurement.  For series-produced yachts, the certificate must be based on a full IMS measurement of at least one of the production series.

Any modification from a standard One-Design Class certificate shall require measurement by a Certified Measurer.

All sails shall be measured, properly stamped and identified.

7. Scoring

Time-on-distance (GPH), as provided on the IMS / ORC Club certificate, is recommended for ISRA sanctioned events. Alternative common methods may be applied at the discretion of the event organizer.

8. Championships and Awards

It is intended to hold annual National Championships, a Euro Cup Series and a German Cup Series following the programme, schedule and Rules of the ISRA, with awards as in a, b and c below:

a. One award to the overall winner.

b. One award to the overall winner with a gennaker sportsboat.

c. One award to the overall winner with a spinnaker sportsboat.

9. Future Rule Changes

At the ORC Sportboat European / World Championship or German Championship will be a meeting of the ISRA Managing board and the ISRA Class Committee to discuss any changes. All proposal of rule changes must be submitted 40 days before the first start of the ORC Sportboat European / World Championship by the ISRA Managing board by e-mail.
